What earns a commission
Which Stripe payments earn, and how the amount is calculated.
Supaffi creates a commission when Stripe reports a payment from a referred customer. A customer is referred when their checkout carried an affiliate's referral, within the program's time to buy.
Sales that earn
Some payments never earn, even from a referred customer:
How the amount is calculated
commission = base × rate / 100, rounded half up to 2 decimalsA commission of zero or less is not recorded. Example: a $49.00 monthly plan with a recurring 20% discount, at a 25% rate, earns 25% of $39.20, which is $9.80 on each payment.
Commission duration
The program's duration decides how many payments of a referral earn. It counts once per referral, from the referral's first payment.
- One click is one referral. A customer who cancels and subscribes again through the same referral carries on where the referral was; the duration does not start over.
- A new click on an affiliate link is a new referral, with its own duration.
- When a subscription is cancelled, it earns nothing more. Commissions it already earned stay. See Cancellations.
- With several products on one Stripe account, a renewal pays only the affiliate who referred that specific subscription.
Exclude a customer or sale
To stop a sale from earning, set the metadata key supaffi to the lowercase string false on one of these Stripe objects:
Set it before the customer pays, for example in subscription_data.metadata when you create the Checkout Session:
await stripe.checkout.sessions.create({
// ...your existing options
subscription_data: {
metadata: { supaffi: "false" },
},
});- A flag added after payment excludes later renewals only.
- A one-time purchase can only be excluded through its customer or its post-purchase invoice.
- A sale whose Stripe customer was deleted is treated as excluded.
- If Supaffi cannot check the flag, it retries, and after about two days the sale earns nothing.
Currencies
Each commission is in the currency of its sale. Supaffi never converts currencies and never adds different currencies together: totals list each currency separately, and you pay each currency as its own payout.
